France blocks access to mountain that could save us from apocalypse
11/20/2012Sorry, doomsdayers: You're going to have to come up with a plan B when life on Earth comes to an abrupt halt on December 21, as some believe the end of the Mayan calendar foretells. Local officials in France have barred access to the Pic de Bugarach, a "sacred" mountain that some apparently believe will open up to reveal aliens who'll handily save anybody nearby when the world ends. Predicting a rush of New Age crackpots and apocalypse tourists, officials say that in the interests of public safety, access to the small village at the foot of mountain will also be blocked on the big day if necessary.
