12/4/2012For most of us, flying is such a hassle that we do so only to get somewhere. For some masochists, however, the trip matters more than the destination. Introducing the airline industry’s own version of hoarders: frequent flyers who make "mileage runs," flying punishingly long flights just to accrue miles. Most of these "extreme travelers" don’t care where their journeys lead. The only goal is to rack up miles and rack up the perks — upgrades and free meals. Take Howie Rappaport. He recently embarked on a 27-hour trek to Istanbul, spending just one night in the city before flying home. Surely, you can’t be serious? [Source]
