Friendly mayor turns his parking space into a park
6/4/2012Ithaca's youngest mayor ever, 25 year old Svante Myrick, has started walking to work and joined a carshare program to decrease traffic problems. As a further step toward civic improvements he has also converted his parking space into a micro-park. Underneath the "Reserved for Mayor" sign denoting the parking space he's whimsically attached a smaller sign that says "and friends" and placed benches and planters in the car-sized slot. So Ithaca citizens, come and enjoy your tiny new park, a place to relax and unwind as cars pull in and out, and the UPS guy quietly rolls his eyes at you.
