Two animal organizations are purring with delight this week as news sinks in that a saintly woman bequeathed them $400,000 in her will. Gail Sheffield (aka "Cat Lady") of Kalispell left $100,000 to the Feral Cat Consortium in Madisonville, La., and left a home worth $300,000 to a group in Montana. If the cats knew what the money was going to be spent on, they probably wouldn't be particularly thrilled: Both organizations are devoted to spaying and neutering feral felines, which reduces suffering in animal communities but isn't exactly a romp in the park for the kitties. Hopefully some of the cash can go toward ice packs and Fancy Feast for the poor little things. [Source]
