Gamer pimps his Mario Kart ride, uses exercise bike to play

Somebody give this man a real-life Special Cup. Software developer Brent Smith modded out an old exercise bike to work as a Super Nintendo controller just so he could pedal his way through a game of Super Mario Kart. Smith goes into an in-depth how-to on his blog, but basically he pedals the bike to accelerate and steers using a pair of buttons on the handlebars.

"I used to think about how much fun it would be to play SMK with a real bike," he writes. "Now...we finally have the ability to create such a thing." And by "we," he means "people who know what an Arduino microcontroller is." Hello, weekend project.
