Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist is no longer sweet on Confederate flag
9/23/2012Gary Rossington, the last surviving original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, caused a flurry of commentary when he renounced the band’s trademark Confederate flag on CNN, saying it won't continue to fly at their concerts because "people like the KKK and skinheads kinda kidnapped the Dixie or Southern flag." However, after fans freaked out online (including comments such as "Good luck with your next release 'Sweet Home Massachusetts'") he’s "clarified" his stance in a personal blog, saying, "We still utilize the Confederate (Rebel) flag on stage every night in our shows…The Confederate flag means something more to us, Heritage not Hate." The trouble is, seeing a flag from the distance, it’s might be hard to tell the difference. [Source]
