Gay bar bans bachelorette parties for rubbing in marriage
5/25/2012West Hollywood gay bar The Abbey has welcomed movie stars, presidential candidates and customers of all sexual orientations. But owner David Cooley has announced that, until same-sex marriage is legalized nationwide, certain patrons will be unwelcome: specifically, straight women who flock to the club for bachelorette parties to enjoy its male go-go dancers. Such celebrations are "a slap in the face" to gay customers who can't celebrate legal marriages of their own, Cooley says.
Twitter response to the bachelorette ban is mixed -- and, in some cases, a little mixed up. "I don't think I've ever been to a Bachelorette party at The Abbey," writes one Tweep. "Now I'm worried that's weird."
