Cake shop allegedly serves up a slice of discrimination to gay couple
7/24/2012The website for Colorado's Masterpiece Cakeshop says "If you can think it up, [they] can make it into a cake!" Well, unless you're thinking of a gay wedding cake, then you're out of luck. Dave Mullins and Charlie Craig asked Masterpiece to bake a cake for their wedding reception, but shop owner Jack Phillips reportedly told them that he didn't do cakes for gay weddings. "It was the most awkward, surreal, very brief encounter," Mullins said. Masterpiece has refused to comment, but other stories of discrimination have been posted on Yelp. "All we wanted was a cake," Mullins said. "We didn't want him to … march in the gay pride parade." [Source]
Should Masterpiece have baked the cake?
