'Propaganda of Love' protest leads to arrests in Russia
12/20/2012Gay rights advocates were arrested throughout Russia Wednesday following the best-named protest of the year: "Propaganda of Love." The name is a direct reference to the country's new law against the "propaganda of homosexuality." Both same-sex and straight couples gathered in Moscow to stage a kiss-in, which concluded with participants getting pelted with eggs by "Orthodox activists." Winning extra points for doggedness was a one-woman protest in the far-flung city of Tomsk, where activist Natalia Mizina picketed a government building in -30-degree weather. [Source]
