11/25/2012Paying coaches not to coach is becoming an epidemic at Auburn University. Just two years after riding the play of quarterback Cam Newton to a national championship, Gene Chizik was pink-slipped in the wake of a 49-0 wipeout by rival Alabama that brought the curtain down on a 3-9 season. Now the school is on the hook for $7.5 million owed Chizik, after having swallowed another $5 million to rid themselves of Tommy Tuberville four years ago.
