Genius invention serves beer foam like soft-serve ice cream

4/10/2012

In an effort to solve the age-old mystery of how to keep beer cold, Japanese brewer Kirin has come up with an inventive solution: a cold-foam dispenser that works like a soft-serve ice cream machine. (Who wants to bet the inventor conjured this up while in line for a couple cones with the kids, while his or her beer got warm?) Other cold-beer initiatives have focused on chilling the glass, but the "Kirin Ichiban Shibori Frozen Draft" goes straight to the heart of the problem by keeping the foam at super-chilled temps. For the moment, it's only available in Tokyo.
