Oak Ridge Boys serenaded ailing Bush with 'Elvira,' and he still lived
1/1/2013Premature reports of his demise aside, ailing ex-President George H.W. Bush got what his people are calling a "real shot in the arm" Friday thanks to the Oak Ridge Boys. The country music veterans reached their old pal by phone at the Houston hospital in which he's being treated for bronchitis to serenade him with their moldy old hit "Elvira" and a maudlin snippet of "Amazing Grace." At the request of former First Lady Barbara Bush, the group "blasted some 'oom pop a mau maus' in the direction of Houston, Texas," band member Joe Bonsall said. Bush moved out of intensive care the next day. [Source]
