No $4B shopping spree for Lucas — he'll donate Disney money to charity
11/1/2012Don't expect the newly minted bazillionaire George Lucas to go off on any island-buying sprees — a representative for the "Star Wars" maestro says that Lucas will instead use the $4 billion payout in Lucasfilms' sale to Disney chiefly to back charitable organizations. A rep for Lucas said, vaguely, that Lucas "has expressed his intention, in the event the deal closes, to donate the majority of the proceeds to his philanthropic endeavours." These presumably include his own Edutopia group, a part of the George Lucas Educational Foundation benefiting "the K-12 learning process." [Source]
