George Michael cancels Aussie tour due to leftover pneumonia anxiety

10/1/2012

British singer George Michael has canceled the Australian leg of his current world tour – because of an illness he suffered last year. The pop star, of Wham! and "I Want Your Sex" fame, claims that "major anxiety" about the pneumonia he contracted last year is to blame for his decision to ax the rest of his tour. Michael writes on his website that it "breaks [his] heart" to disappoint his fans down under, but that last year's life-threatening illness (he was hospitalized for a month in Vienna) messed with his head too much to go on: "I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma … I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself." Rest up, George, and keep the "Faith" – your fans can wait. [Source]
