The 36-year-old lawyer and Afghanistan vet is eyeing the job of state land commissioner, a small but influential post seen as a stepping stone to larger roles. George’s mom is Mexican, which might make him important to Texas Republicans wooing Hispanics in a soon-to-be "majority minority" state. George P. must be happy, but we imagine it'd be tough to manage expectations at family gatherings.
