Raise your shot glasses: Gerard Depardieu offered Russian citizenship

Is there anybody more French than Gerard Depardieu? The name, the look, the man is Gallic charm personified. The only problem: Gerard is now a Ruskie. The "Green Card" actor, who recently voiced his anger over a proposal by French President Francois Hollande to introduce a 75 percent income tax rate for French high-earners, has been granted Russian citizenship. According to a statement on the Kremlin website, President Vladimir Putin signed the citizenship grant after announcing last month he would welcome the actor. No comment yet from Depardieu, who had lashed out at the French government for penalizing "success, creation and talent" and announced in December he would relocate to Belgium.
