Flu-tracking app can help you stay healthy, but only in four cities
1/13/2013A flu-tracking app might be the hot new download for cautious citizens and hypochondriacs alike — assuming you live in one of four cities. (Otherwise, it's time to find that surgical mask you bought during the swine flu scare.) The Germ Tracker app was created at the University of Rochester and uses an algorithm that seeks keywords such as "sick" or "flu" (duh) on social networking sites. So far, the app only works for New York, Boston, San Francisco and Rochester, N.Y., but for those residents it's proving useful. The New York Daily News staff gave it a trial run and found out Hell's Kitchen is the most flu-infected area in the Big Apple. So steer clear, or get a flu shot. [Source]
