Giant gas-huffing bears running around Russian nature preserve
3/18/2013
Occasionally, you get stories out of Russia that just seem made up — like this one. Apparently, bears in Russia's Kronotsky Nature Reserve have developed a taste for kerosene and gasoline, huffing it out of discarded barrels and drums before passing out in the snow. Photographer Igor Shpilenok said a few even stalk helicopters, "waiting for takeoff and drops of fuel to leak onto the hard soil." The nature reserve is home to more than 700 brown bears, some of which weigh up to 1,200 pounds, making them among the largest in the world. Enormous, gas-huffing bears: sounds like a job for Vladimir Putin and Steven Seagal! [Source]
