Gigantic premature baby weighs more than 12 pounds

A baby born four weeks premature is described by her doctor as the largest baby he's ever delivered in 21 years of practicing medicine. At 12 lbs. 3 ounces, it's easy to forget Ayara is a fragile preemie, but the healthy-sized baby has had to spend time in the neonatal intensive care unit, even if she can't fit into any of the little clothes bought for her baby shower. While 26-year-old mother Crista Hebel confessed her jaw dropped when she heard the estimated delivery weight, she had experience previously delivering twin boys, now 14-months- old, whose combined weight at delivery was still a full pound less than their sister's. Doting father Thomas Hebel describes his daughter as looking "like a princess."
