Watch the dramatic collapse of a massive glacier bridge

2/12/2013

Now you see an enormous glacial ice bridge, now you don't. When this monumental frozen arc — jutting out from Perito Moreno, one of the largest glaciers in Argentina's Patagonia region — trembled and tumbled into Lake Argentino on Jan. 19, about 20 to 30 people were lucky enough to be there to witness the rare event. Thanks to a natural damming process, such a spectacle can occur every 10 to 50 months. Onlookers were also lucky enough to be a safe distance away. And fortunately for all of us, one of the spectators had the presence of mind and equipment on hand to capture the dramatic collapse on video. Applause. [Source]
