Study shows we're living longer, more wretched lives. Yay?
12/14/2012The news from the Global Burden of Disease report, the biggest ever done on the health of humans around the world, is mixed. While we are living longer, those extra years are likely to be ones we could do without, with chronic illness on the rise. According to research leader Professor Christopher Murray of the University of Washington, "What ails you isn't necessarily what kills you." There is hope, however. Child malnourishment is no longer the world's leading cause of ill health. Avoidable, mainly adult, maladies due to indulging in unprotected sex, smoking, drinking and overeating have hit the top spots — grown-ups should know better. [Source] and [Source]
