It's a lot easier to think of a name for someone who rebels against the holiday spirit — there's the Grinch, Scrooge, etc. — than it is to characterize people who epitomize its best, like the anonymous donor who left a gold coin in a Salvation Army kettle in upstate New York. (Even better, the coin was wrapped in a $100 bill.) The $500 coin was discovered by the Elmira Salvation Army as it did its tally of the day's donations from the Village Plaza shopping center in Horseheads.
