Golden Gate Bridge turns 75, surviving many perils (in film)
5/27/2012Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, one of California's and indeed America's favorite landmarks. This video thoughtfully discusses the maintenance required by the elegant suspension bridge and the natural elements that it has weathered while showing the bridge getting squeezed to pieces, blown up, attacked, and BITTEN IN HALF by A GIANT SHARK in the many movies that have featured it as a show-stopping special effects centerpiece. Guess that's just what happens when you're one of the most beautiful architecture features in the world! There's also a stunning footage of the bridge apparently brand new and freshly opened in 1937, which kicks off this lovely tribute.
