$9.99 painting from Goodwill sells for 27K at auction
9/25/2012Beth Feeback is an artist with a very specific focus — she paints portraits of cats. In April, the North Carolina woman bought a painting for $9.99 at a Goodwill store. The painting — “Vertical Diamond” by Ilya Bolotowsky — didn’t do much for Feeback, and she planned to reuse the canvas for one of her feline portraits. But a friend advised her to research the work before painting over it. Great advice: through her online queries, Feeback discovered the painting was way too valuable to paint cats over it. Last Friday, the painting sold at auction for $27,000. [Source]
