GOP candidate thinks cancer isn't that big a deal

Code red: Chris Collins' medical knowledge is in critical condition. The woefully uninformed GOP congressional candidate from New York says it's for a good reason that health care is so expensive nowadays. It is because, as he told The Batavian, "People now don't die from prostate cancer, breast cancer, and some of the other things." Remarkably, Collins, who is running against Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul, marshaled this twisted rationale to argue for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. The National Cancer Institute, by the way, estimates that breast cancer kills about 40,000 women a year in the U.S., while prostate cancer claims the lives of nearly 30,000 men.
