Sorry, strippers, but we might have to start throwing $1 coins at you
11/29/2012That crumpled wad of dollar bills in your coat pocket could become a collectors' item if the Government Accountability Office gets its way. The GAO, a nonpartisan, investigative arm of Congress, has a hearing today to attempt to get the U.S. Mint to abandon paper dollar bills and replace them with $1 coins. Switching to coins, it says, could save the government $4.4 billion over the next 30 years because, although they're more expensive to produce at first, coins last almost seven times as long as their paper counterparts. We'd like to know what exotic dancers think about this change. "Making it rain" with two handfuls of heavy coins is gonna hurt. [Source]
