Greek pol punches female rival during TV appearance6/7/2012
If you don't speak Greek, this clip from a political show will sound like chatter, angry chatter, then "Holy crap, he just punched that woman!" After a heated exchange, Ilias Kasidiaris, spokesman for the extremist Golden Dawn group, threw his water at Rena Dourou, a member of the Syriza party, then called left-winger Liana Kanelli an "old Commie," wildly swinging at her as she approached him. The station immediately cut to commercial, and Kasidiaris fled the studio before he could be served with an arrest warrant. A government official called it "an attack against every democratic citizen," while Golden Dawn released a statement essentially telling Kanelli that she started it. Should we be looking forward to Round Two?
How would this have been handled in the U.S.?
