The effects of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting have been felt far and wide, even in one of the most dangerous cities in America. Authorities in Camden, N.J., report that a "record-breaking" 1,137 guns were turned in through a two-day buyback program, which offered up to $250 per weapon. The total bill for the effort ran $110,000-plus, with an additional $6,000 in gift cards and $40,000 issued in IOUs. "[Participants] said they wanted these guns out of their house now,” New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said. [Source]
