Phew! Halliburton finally finds that radioactive rod they misplaced

10/9/2012

Citizens of West Texas, you can rest easy. The radioactive rod Halliburton kinda sorta lost track of during a 130-mile trek between Odessa and Pecos back in September has been found. An oilfield worker discovered the rod, about seven miles outside of Pecos — where it was used last, by the way — and alerted authorities after he identified it as one he'd seen in fliers distributed in the area, Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said. The rod, made up of americium-241/beryllium, contained a level of radiation that could have seriously harmed anyone who handled it. No word yet though on if any new species of three-eyed fish have been discovered in the area. [Source]
