Happy video fights stereotypes associated with Africa
4/20/2012In a refreshing break from the onslaught of images showing starving children, war, and corruption, filmmaker Devin Graham has posted a YouTube video featuring nothing but two minutes of adorable African children smiling. The artful clip - which features a simple musical montage of smile after smile -- is getting a lot of attention, with inspired viewers commenting on how nice it is to see happy images from that continent. You see a gleeful child chasing a tire, a pup digging boisterously in the sand (even the dog is happy) and a group of school kids bursting into laughter. At one point, a girl in purple tries not to smile but can't help herself and breaks into a grin. Watching it makes us grin too.
