Toy company writes confusing, jargon-filled letter to 6-year-old
11/20/2012Jennifer O'Connell's 6-year-old daughter wrote to Hasbro to ask a simple question: "Why are there only five girls on the 'Guess Who' game board but there are 19 boys?" "It is not only boys who are important, girls are important too," she said. The toymaker sent back a response that was undecipherable even to adults, referencing "numerical equations" and how the characters were "weighted." O'Connell wrote to ask for a more kid-friendly answer and finally! — she got a better response (and we're suuuure it wasn't because O'Connell's blog post went viral). "We agree that girls are equally as important," someone wrote and offered to send some additional, girl-friendly character sheets. That's better played, board game maker. [Source]
