Ghosts lose edge on creeping out real estate market

10/21/2012

Sorry, ghouls and goblins — your spooky scare tactics don't appear to be working as well as they used to. A new study, just in time for Halloween, finds nearly 2 out of 3 people would either buy or consider buying a house that was rumored to be haunted. Just 35 percent of the participants in the Realtor.com survey said they'd outright refuse a house associated with ghosts or spirits. In terms of what specific paranormal features folks would tolerate, more are okay with warm or cold spots, but footsteps or slamming door sounds are a more powerful deterrent. Guess it's time for you territorial ghosts to go Jacob Marley on us and get some clunky boots and a good rattling chain. [Source]
