Professor asks class to snitch on students who surf the Web
11/6/2012Henry Kim wants his students to turn into snitches.The business professor at Canada’s York University wants to turn his students into tattletales in order to combat their increasingly short attention spans. Last week, the professor noticed a student in a class paying more attention to his laptop than Kim’s lecture, apparently finding Twitter more interesting. Kim had his students pledge at the beginning of the course to abstain from using their computers for non-class purposes, and added a new pledge — that students report when their neighbors are surfing the Web. Kim said the lesson he wants to impart is that students can’t multi-task and learn simultaneously. [Source]
