High school soccer final overshadowed by massive brawl that ended it
10/21/2012Minnesota's Totino Grace and Prairie Seeds Academy soccer teams ended what had been a well-played section championship game, attended by seven college coaches there to observe potential recruits, with a brawl that will not soon be forgotten — and that will probably have immediate and long-term repercussions for both teams. Tension from the previous season’s rivalry and some on-the-field trash talking led to the game-ending melee involving players, coaches, students and officials. No official punishments have been meted out, but the goalie from Prairie Seeds, who landed a blind-sided punch and a kick before running away, might be looking for new college options come Monday.
