Hillary Clinton reveals strategy to create an 'AIDS-free generation'

11/29/2012

World AIDS Day is Saturday, and just in time for that day of reflection, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has announced a plan to eradicate AIDS from the world and achieve an "AIDS-free generation." It's a promise backed by the Obama administration, to build on the decade-long decline in infection rates with a surge in funds. The U.S. is the world's leading donor in treating AIDS/HIV victims worldwide, spending $5.6 billion last year, and in July, Clinton announced the U.S. would donate an extra $150 million to helping developing nations fight HIV infection. "In the fight against HIV/AIDS, failure to live up to our commitments isn't just disappointing, it's deadly," Clinton said. [Source]
