Twist: Lead detective in Pistorius case accused of attempted murder
2/21/2013Well, this is awkward. The lead detective in the Oscar Pistorius murder case is facing his own set of attempted murder charges. Hilton Botha will have to appear in a different South African courtroom after allegedly shooting at a minibus full of people in an attempt to stop it in 2011. The charges had originally been withdrawn, but the state prosecutor reinstated them on Wednesday, which doesn't sound suspicious at all. Botha has already been accused of contaminating the Pistorius crime scene and backtracked on the stand when questioned about witnesses' statements from the night Pistorius reportedly shot and killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. "At this stage there are no plans to take him off the … case," a police spokesman said. [Source]
