Hiring managers don't care so much about your Facebook
3/29/2012It turns out that all the worrying about hiring managers stalking Facebook profiles isn't yet necessary. A study of 650 human resources professionals found that only 9 percent always check a potential employee's Facebook profile or other similar site, while 52 percent said they never check. "Despite the potential they might hold," the report stated, "social networking websites are not yet widely accepted as trusted background-checking resource." Whew. But at some point you should remove that shot of you doing a keg stand at the office Christmas party; researchers expect that using these sites as screening tools will increase in coming years.
