How did Hitler's toilet end up in a New Jersey auto repair shop?
2/1/2013If you're waiting at the mechanic's, the best you can hope for is a relatively new copy of Car and Driver to thumb through. But at Greg's Auto Repair, you can skip the old magazines and check out Adolf Hitler's toilet: The New Jersey shop has had one of the most infamous plumbing fixtures for 60 years. The toilet was taken from the Aviso Grille, Hitler's largest yacht, the one he wanted to "ride down the Thames in London … [after] he invaded." That never happened. After WWII, the yacht was brought to the U.S. and the parts were sold at a Jersey scrapyard. The shop's previous owner bought the Führer's porcelain throne, turning it into a "functional tourist attraction." [Source]
