'Hollaback' app lets women report catcall creeps' locations
4/24/2012Guys who think whistling at a woman or yelling out such clever phrases as "SHAKE IT, SEXXXAY!" will get them somewhere might be right. The Hollaback! smartphone app allows users to post a catcaller's picture and location online to warn others about where they've received unwanted attention. The app is an extension of the Hollaback! nonprofit organization, which just received $20,000 from the city of New York to further expand the service's capabilities. "[The app] will give women another tool to report harassment," City Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras said. "I hope that it will ... bring awareness on an issue that is so often ignored."
How helpful do you think this app will be in stifling catcalling creeps?
