Holy Family, Batman! Jesus, Mary cast as superheroes

​Comic book superheroes are practically like Jesus anyway: They have special powers, they instinctively know when people are in danger and they've dedicated their lives to saving the world from evil. So it's no wonder that Italian artist Igor Scalisi Palminteri has created these cool statues and pieces of art with various Christian figures depicted as superheroes. The statues in the series "Hagiographies" were purchased from street markets Palermo and doused in colorful acrylic paint to morph into superhero personas. Although the figures are bound to be called blasphemous by some, we think comic book fans and art lovers will love the work.
