Nice homecoming nominees make special-needs junior king instead
1/24/2013Jesse Cooper, Drew Gibbs and Zeke Grissom — we salute you. The three Unionville Community High School students in Tennessee were nominated for homecoming king but decided instead to give that honor to junior Scotty Maloney, a special needs student who has Williams Syndrome, a neurological disorder. Maloney was announced as homecoming king to the cheers of his fellow students and received a standing ovation as he was awarded his "King" medal, which apparently he's been wearing ever since. "He's always happy," said Gibbs of the homecoming king, "so he deserves some recognition for who he is." [Source]
