Crisis averted? Last-minute deal might save Twinkies
11/19/2012The demise of the Twinkie may have been greatly exaggerated. Days after treats like Twinkies and Ding Dongs ended up on eBay in the wake of announcement that Hostess Brands was going out of business, the firm now says it still could reach an agreement its bakery union, which went on strike on November 9. Hostess will enter into mediation on Tuesday with the union in hopes of staving off a shutdown. Even if the deal falls through, though, fans are being urged not to break the bank by stocking up on the snacks. Analysts say that even if Hostess stops baking, another firm likely would buy rights to keep producing the products. [Source]
