Hostess diverted funds for employee pensions for other uses

12/11/2012

When the Twinkiepocalypse hit, and the world awoke to the realization that they would be forever deprived of the indestructible, spongy, cream-filled snack cakes, that was bad enough. Then came the stories of how executives at Hostess steered the company off a financial cliff. Rock bottom, though, might be the discovery that Hostess executives diverted money that was supposed to fund employee pensions to continue funding the company’s operations even as it was heading toward insolvency. The company stopped making pension contributions in August 2011, and also failed to restore forgone wages toward pensions. Twitter user Doug Morrison sums it up best: "Isn't this theft..?
