The project started when this guy here decided he was "tired of the carpet." But soon this had happened.

Once the floor supports were gone, it was a point of no return.

Once there's a hole in the floor, you can't really back out.

So you might as well resurface the fireplace too.

A buddy gave him a hand installing the slate tile.

He made sure it matched the fireplace.

It was all starting to come together.

But the included cover wouldn't do, he said.

So he got a custom one off the Internet that went nicely with the rug. He also found a TV that fit the fireplace.

Ta-da!

A guy's first house as a single dude can be dangerous. He dreams of all the wild things he could do with his new digs to morph it into a den of bachelor coolness — maybe turn the fireplace into a TV or install a hot tub in the living room. Of course, this guy actually did those things. The "Hot Tub Project" — the result of what happens when a guy gets "tired of the carpet" — was originally completed in 2003; however, pics posted yesterday on Reddit sent the remodel viral. Sure, there are all those pesky issues like hazardous mold in the walls, rusty outlets, threat of electrocution, etc., which pop up when you put a hot tub in the living room.
