One of America's most historic warships is rotting in a N.Y. shed

It's not the distinguished end a relic of the War of 1812 deserves. Historians are concerned the hull of an American ship that was the first to be given the name Ticonderoga could be damaged due to the fact that it is displayed in an open-sided shed at the Skenesborough Museum in Whitehall, N.Y. The hull was recovered 50 years ago, but  Arthur Cohn, senior adviser and special projects developer with the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Vergennes, Vermont, says the vessel needs to be stored in a climate-controlled building. Unfortunately for this piece of American history, the museum's director, Carol Greenough, says the facility just can't afford amenities like that. [Source]
