Hurling in Chicago cabs will cost you $50

7/1/2012

It can be hard work driving a bunch of drunks and late-night boozers around the city. Ask any taxi driver and he or she will tell you: Passengers slobber, they slur, they drone on about their problems and, most offensively, they puke all over your cab. The foul and all-too-common nuisance is what's apparently behind a Chicago ordinance that, starting tomorrow, will sock any weak-stomached partier with a $50 "vomit surcharge." Cab drivers have long pushed for the hurling fee (they know better than anyone what it costs to clean up a drunk girl's appletini), so consider yourself forewarned. If you're planning on a heavy night of drinking, bring your best stomach. Or a spare fifty bucks.
