While much of the East Coast postpones Halloween and everything else not directly related to recovering from Hurricane Sandy, first responders and repair crews are working hard to get things back to normal. And while humans were able to brace for the storm and can put a timeline on when they can expect things to go back to normal, pets don’t have that comfort. That’s why we’re so touched by these animals being rescued by response crews or finding temporary refuge in shelters. There’s confusion and sadness in these canine faces, but the gentleness and care shown by rescue workers is truly affecting, and shows an unfiltered look at both the devastation and heroism left in Sandy’s wake.
