Photos show New York City at its weirdest: empty

New Yorkers are accustomed to seeing their city in many conditions: under snow, deluged by rain, infested by hipsters, and chock-a-block with people of all genders and ages wearing sexy nurse outfits. What they're not used to, though, is seeing their city empty — and that's exactly what these eerie photos show. With the closing of the city's public transportation system last night and the virtual shutdown of its airports and rail stations, places that are nearly always buzzing with activity, like Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station, look like one of the "after" scenes in one of those apocalyptic movies.
