Disney cruise is NOT the happiest place on Earth, thanks to Sandy

10/29/2012

This probably wasn't the fantasy that anyone had in mind. Passengers on a seven-day cruise on the new "Disney Fantasy" ship through the Caribbean had an unexpected party crasher: Hurricane Sandy. The storm passed directly over the cruise line's private island, the ominously named Castaway Cay, and created dangerously rough seas for the 14-story ship. "There was a moment in the night where the ship tilted so far to the right that the furniture moved across our room," passenger Dr. David Evans says. "The ship was rising and dropping into the water pretty dramatically, it was really startling at times." Somewhere in windswept New York, The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore is saying to himself, "That was MY fantasy." [Source]
