Looters use holiday spirit to kick Sandy victims while they're down
11/24/2012Some channel their warm holiday spirit into giving to charity. Others use it to loot the homes of people who've just been devastated by a hurricane. Thieves ransacked damaged homes over the holiday in the Breezy Point neighborhood in Queens, New York City, which had already suffered fires and floods during Superstorm Sandy. One couple lost a $25,000 coin collection during and another man lost $400 he had in change jars. He said the theft came as he was trying to repair his damaged home, and that it "adds insult to injury." [Source]
